About BoltShare
BoltShare is a free tool for sending files of any size from one device to another, straight from the browser. There's no app to install, no account to create, and your files aren't parked in the cloud waiting for someone to download them.
Why it exists
Sending a large file should be simple, but it usually isn't. Email attachments stop at around 25 MB. Cloud drives make you upload the whole file first, then count it against your storage. Most transfer services cap free users at a few gigabytes, or make files expire before the other person gets to them.
BoltShare skips the upload-then-download step. You pick a file, share a link, and the file moves to the receiver while you keep the tab open. A 100 GB video folder works the same way a 1 MB PDF does.
How it works
BoltShare offers two ways to move a file:
- Direct P2P connects the two browsers to each other with WebRTC. File data goes device-to-device, encrypted in transit, without passing through our servers.
- Bolt Tunnel streams the file through our relay on Cloudflare's global network. This helps on strict office or mobile networks where a direct connection can't be made. The relay forwards data as it arrives and never saves it.
If a connection drops partway through, BoltShare reconnects and resumes from where it stopped instead of starting over. Received files are written straight to disk, so even very large transfers don't fill up the browser's memory.

Our principles
- No file storage. We don't keep copies of what you send. Ever.
- No accounts. You shouldn't need to hand over an email address to send a file.
- Plain-language privacy. Our privacy policy describes exactly what the app does, including the parts that involve our servers.
- Free to use. BoltShare is supported by ads, so the core tool stays free.
Who builds it
BoltShare is designed, built and maintained by an independent developer based in India. It started as a fix for a personal frustration: getting large video files to people without waiting for slow cloud uploads. It grew into the tool you see today. Every feature request and bug report is read by the person who writes the code.
